Man Bailed In 'Abduction' Case
The man who was arrested in relation to an apparent child abduction in Derry has been bailed after a court appearance today.
Patrick Feely, 36, of Linenhall Street in Limavady, told the court that he 'was drunk' and mistook a Londonderry child for his own son.
The 'snatch' had been foiled by the child's father, aided by passers-by, who intervened during the incident, at Foyle Street at 4.40pm on Wednesday.
Although the child was unhurt during the ordeal, the 36 year-old man was arrested and charged.
Accused of abducting and assaulting the two-year-old boy concerned, he claimed in court that he mistook him for his son, as he was "hopelessly intoxicated".
Londonderry Magistrates Court heard that there was no sexual undercurrent to the incident in the city on Wednesday.
A defence lawyer said his client had no recollection of the incident.
The accused was released on bail and ordered to abstain from alcohol.
He is to appear in court again next month.

Man Extradited From US Over Historical Child Sex Abuse
A 68-year-old man has been sentenced to 18 months in prison for a series of indecent assaults on a child in the 1970s. Damien Desmond Anderson, originally from L'Derry, was extradited from the US to face justice. He was convicted of 12 counts of indecent assault against a female who was 11 years old at the time of the abuse.

Two Men Charged After Drugs Seized In L'Derry
Two people have been charged after drugs were found during searches in L'Derry. A quantity of suspected class B drugs, as well as cash and other items, were seized during a search in the Waterside area on Tuesday, 22 August. Suspected class A and class B drugs were also seized following a search in the Cityside area.

Priest found guilty of facilitating child sex offence
A County Fermanagh priest has been found guilty of facilitating a child sex offence against a 12-year-old girl. The jury at Liverpool Crown Court heard Father Jeremiah McGrath, 63, from Rosslea gave more than £20,000 to convicted child rapist William Adams. He then spent the money grooming the girl from Liverpool.
