Ulster Unionists Win Banbridge
The Ulster Unionist Party has come out tops in the Banbridge Council by-election.
Although the focus has been on Jim Allister's new Traditonal Unionist Voice (TUV) movement, which had fielded a candidate for the first time in its short history, the UUP's Carol Black won the vote.
The TUV's Keith Harbinson, who was one of seven candidates contesting the Dromore seat, ended up third, with 739 first preference votes.
The DUP's Paul Stewart actually topped the poll with 1,069 votes after the first count, but transfer votes helped the UUP retain the seat after all.
Along with the winning UUP candidate Carol Black, others who stood were John Drake of the SDLP, Paul Gribben for Sinn Fein, David Griffin of Alliance and the Greens' Helen Corry.
Campaigning was fierce as the politician's former colleagues in the DUP in particular mobilised to see off any threat from Mr Allister's new group.
The by-election was caused by the resignation of Ulster Unionist councillor and ex-Ireland rugby international Tyrone Howe.
He resigned his seat for personal and family reasons.
The poll has resulted in a comparatively high turnout of 38%, which it had been thought would favour the DUP.
Mr Allister quit the DUP last March after it decided to share power with Sinn Fein.
Since then he has been a constant critic of his former party and leader Ian Paisley and formed the TUV last December.

Sinn Fein Tops NI Euro Poll
Sinn Fein has topped the poll in an historic result in the Northern Ireland European election, which saw UCUNF's Jim Nicholson take the second seat ahead of the DUP. The republican party beat the DUP to the top spot - breaking its 30 year reign at the European ballot box.

TUV And DUP Reach Council Agreement
Hardline unionist Jim Allister (pictured) last night withdrew his challenge for a council by-election in Ballymoney. Traditional Unionist Voice members reached a "mutually advantageous" agreement with the DUP, leaving the Democratic Unionists free to co-opt the seat left vacant by Roy Wilson.

Final results in for 2003 NI Assembly election
UPDATE: With all counts declared on Friday evening the clear winners are the Rev Ian Paisley's Democratic Unionist Party who have claimed 10 more seats on the Assembly and Sinn Féin who have won 6 seats.
