Meath Man Killed In Keady Crash Named
Police have released the name of a man who died following a road accident in Co Armagh on Friday last and are also seeking help in finding the driver who has left a nine-year-old in hospital after a separate hit-and-run incident in Comber, Co Down.
The boy was struck by a dark car - possibly a Vauxhall - in the Longlands Drive area of the town shortly after 8pm on Saturday.
The boy received treatment for bruising and also shock.
Police in Newtownards have asked anyone who witnessed the incident or who has any relevant information to contact them.
Meanwhile, the Co Armagh road victim has been revealed as 49-year-old Anthony Doyle from the Drumconrath area of County Meath in the Irish Republic.
Mr Doyle's car and a lorry were involved in the collision which occurred on the Castleblayney Road in Keady, just after 3pm.
Detectives are appealing for anyone who witnessed the accident to get in contact with them.
The SDLP's Thomas O'Hanlon described the incident as "yet another tragic death on our border roads".
"I would appeal to all motorists to take extra care especially in rural areas, where driving conditions can vary due to the nature of the traffic and condition of the road surfaces," said the councillor.
Sinn Fein Councillor Darren McNally added that "news like this is unfortunately all too common nowadays".
"Death on our roads is destroying lives, families and communities. On behalf of the local community, I express our sympathies to the family of the deceased," he said.
