Irish Leaders' Boyne Farewell?
Northern Ireland's First Minister and the Republic's Taoiseach are in talks to meet at the site of the Battle of the Boyne Heritage Centre on Bertie Ahern's last day in office.
The proposal is reportedly being discussed by the two administrations.
Both leaders are due to step down next month, Ahern succumbing to mounting pressures forcing him to prematurely abdicate.
Mr Ahern's relationship with the DUP leader, Ian Paisley, has been a significant feature in recent years and has been a dynamic in the emerging 'peace process'.
Last spring, Dr Paisley travelled to events in both Farmleigh House in Dublin and then at the hugely symbolic Battle of the Boyne site, near Drogheda.
While on his visit to the Boyne site last May, Mr Paisley presented the Taoiseach with a musket used in both the Battle of the Boyne and the siege of Derry.
The two leaders also met in the DUP Leader's Ballymena constituency in January this year.
The visit was a further sign of good relations between the two figureheads - and their respective countries.
Now there is a real possibility that on what will be Mr Ahern's final day as Taoiseach, Dr Paisley may travel to meet him again at the Battle of the Boyne Heritage Centre in Co Meath.
Dr Paisley is due to step down as DUP Leader - and NI Assembly First Minister - at the end of May, Mr Ahern announced he will be stepping down on May 5.
