Child 'Critical' As Dead Motor Cyclist Named

The man who was killed in a collision between a motorcycle and a car on the Portaferry Road near Newtownards at about 5.30pm on Wednesday has been identified.

Bryan Joseph Field, 41, from north Belfast's Fortwilliam area, died in the accident.

The road was initially closed between the Mountstewart and Spring Lane junctions, but has today been reopened.

Meanwhile, a young boy is in a critical condition after being injured in an accident in County Tyrone.

The child was struck by a car on Main Street in Drumquin at about 7.30pm on Wednesday.

The police are appealing for anyone who witnessed a fatal accident last night to come forward.

Serious Road Accident In L'Derry
Police are appealing for witnesses of a serious road accident in Maghera, Co L'Derry, on Sunday night. A man in his 20s is in a critical condition in hospital following the two car collision on the Coleraine Road. It is understood a number of people were injured in the collision but none of them seriously.

Body Of Missing Man Discovered In Lake
The body of missing Crossmaglen man Padraig Campbell has been found. The 37-year-old’s body was recovered from a lake in Co Monaghon last night. Campbell, of Drumbroy Road, Castleblaney, has been missing from the 18 March. Gardai have described his death as a tragic accident, however a post-mortem will be carried out.
