Campaign Highlights Dangers On Farms

In the last 11 years, 29 farmers aged 65 years or over have been killed in farms in Northern Ireland.

HSENI, in partnership with the Ulster Farmers' Union have therefore developed a campaign to raise awareness of the main issues facing older farmers.

It also aims to highlight a number of simple steps to take to ensure that older farmers can continue to farm safely.

The campaign will be launched today at the Balmoral Show on the 'Farmsafe' stand (L6a) at 11am.

HSENI will also be continuing the successful 'Be Aware Kids' campaign with an exhibit on the stand highlighed child safety issues on farms as we move towards the summer holidays.

Further information on all aspects of workplace health and safety are available from the One-2-One Helpline: 0800 0320 121 or on the HSENI website: www.hseni.gov.uk.
