Jobs Boost For Co Down Engineering Firm
Around 46 highly skilled engineering jobs have been created with the opening of new 'state-of-the-art' premises for a Greyabbey company, John Huddleston Engineering.
The firm - which has a current workforce of 84 employees - is an 'integrated solutions provider' which manufactures high precision-machined and technologically advanced components.
It provides its services primarily to prominent aerospace industry clients such as Airbus, BAE Systems, Bombardier, GKN Aerospace and Spirit Aerosystems.
The opening of the new factory - by NI First Minister Ian Paisley, marked the culmination of an £8.5million investment programme backed by Invest Northern Ireland, which will enable the company to further its position as one of Europe's leading suppliers of complex aerospace machined components, utilising world-leading multi-axis machinery to deliver high quality, along with increased productivity.
Speaking at the opening, Dr Paisley said: "Established for over 40 years, John Huddleston Engineering has a strong engineering and aerospace heritage.
"It has steadily grown into a significant international player, performing strongly in challenging export markets, by embracing innovation and striving for engineering excellence.
"This new factory will enhance JHE’s high speed, high-tech precision engineering capability, which is unique to Northern Ireland, and puts it at the very forefront of the UK aerospace supply sector."
He also said that he commended this further commitment to the local economy as a demonstration of its belief in Northern Ireland's skilled workforce.
"Working with Invest NI, the company is now well placed to continue its current level of growth and I wish it every success in going forward," Dr Paisley concluded.

£6.8m Engineering Competence Centre Established
