Loyalist 'research group' meet NIO Minister

Members of the Ulster Political Research Group have met NIO Minister Des Browne in their latest round of discussions with local politicians.

The Group, which was set up to give political analysis to the illegal paramilitary Ulster Defence Association, discussed with the Minister the recent upsurge in sectarian violence.

Among those who attended the meeting was loyalist spokesman, John White, who described the meeting as "constructive".

The Group raised a number of issues including recent attacks in east Belfast and at the interface between Glenbryn and Ardoyne in north Belfast.

The government has voiced concern over an increase in sectarian clashes at interface areas in Belfast.

The meeting with the minister followed discussions earlier this week with Belfast's Sinn Fein Lord Mayor Alex Maskey.
