Homes Evacuated In East Belfast Factory Blaze
More than 60 people have had to be evacuated from their homes in east Belfast following a fire at a derelict factory.
The fire reportedly broke out after 10pm last night at the former WJ Nelson premises in Grove Street off the Beersbridge Road. The residents have since been allowed to return.
Ten fire crews were called to the scene to battle the blaze. It has now been confirmed that the fire is being treated as suspicious.
Earlier on Monday, two schools in west Belfast had to be evacuated following a fire at the site of a former brewery.
St Mary's Christian Brothers grammar school and La Salle were both evacuated after the blaze broke out at the former Bass Ireland building on the Glen Road.

ASSEMBLY CREATE AWARD TO HONOUR FIRE SERVICE
THE Northern Ireland Fire Service is to receive the first ever award given by the province's devolved assembly. An illuminated scroll is to be presented to Chief Fire Officer John McClelland on Tuesday, by assembly speaker Lord Alderdice in tribute to the sacrifice made by fire fighters over the years.

The Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service (NIFRS) has introduced a new online tool to help residents assess their home fire safety. The Home Fire Safety Check coincides with Fire Safety Week, which runs from September 30th to October 6th. The initiative aims to reduce the number of house fires in Northern Ireland.

Firefighters Tackle Blaze At Recycling Plant
Firefighters are trying to put out a blaze at a recycling plant in County L'Derry. An exclusion zone of 200 metres has been put in place around the Peak Environmental Recycling Plant in Campsie. Staff have been evacuated and it is believed that no-one has been hurt in the incident.

Strabane Warehouse Blaze Deliberate
A fire in County Tyrone which led to the evacuation of properties is being treated as arson. Homes and a neighbouring supermarket had to be evacuated last night during a malicious blaze in Strabane. The building, on Lower Main Street, was completely destroyed.
