Road Death Victims Named
While a Derry-born mother and her baby girl have died in a road accident across the border, the NI road toll has also risen this week.
A 48-year-old man died yesterday when he came off his motorcycle on the Glenavy Road, Antrim, just after midday.
No other vehicle was involved in the collision and the police have appealed for anyone with information on the accidents to contact them.
Altogether, three people have been killed on Irish roads in the past 24 hours, with the 16-year-old mum and her three-month-old daughter being fatally injured in a smash in Donegal at around 8.45pm yesterday.
She was Kerry-Ann Meehan, who was originally from Londonderry, while her child was called Niesha.
The accident happened when a jeep towing a sheep trailer crashed into a car at Tullgay.
The child's father was driving the car, and is seriously ill in Letterkenny hospital while the man driving the other vehicle is in a stable condition.
