Sx3 secure local government contracts worth £13m
Newtownabbey-based Sx3 has announced three major contract wins within the UK local government sector worth over £13million.
By securing contracts with Portsmouth and Peterborough City Councils, Sx3 have now strengthened their position within the local government sector following their recent success with the London Borough of Bromley.
The latter awarded a £50million contract to CSL, the local government business of Liberata plc. CSL and Bromley in turn selected Sx3 as their ICT support partner in April, to provide training in the use of all IT systems, as well as consultancy and applications development.
At Portsmouth City Council, Sx3 will be responsible for the implementation of an integrated housing management system. The contract, which was awarded by the council’s housing service, has involved extensive consultations between Sx3 and representatives from the local Residents’ Association Consortium. The end result will be the provision of improved electronic access to council services and information, in addition to a one-stop-shop which aims to meet the needs of all customers.
Peterborough City Council will also benefit from Sx3’s expertise in the delivery of a new call centre, a one-stop-shop and internet/intranet services for its residents. By redesigning processes and integrating systems, Sx3 will help the council develop opportunities for ‘joined up’ service delivery.
Residents contacting the council by phone or in person will benefit from shared information thus avoiding the need to visit different departments such as council tax, environmental health, housing and social services.
Norman Gregg, managing director of Sx3’s Infrastructure Services division, said the wins were visible proof of Sx3’s strengthened position in the British market and demonstrated the extent to which the company understood and embraced the ‘Best Value’ approach.

New figures show that 92% of 'Large Scale Planning Applications' are being dealt with within six months, beating the set target of 75%. Turnaround times for planning applications are improving, becoming "speedier and fairer", Environment minister Mark H Durkan said.

15% Rise In Littering Fines Being Issued
New figures have shown a 15% rise in the number of fines issued for littering. In the 12 months to April some 3,742 fixed penalty notices were issued by 26 local councils, according to a report by the BBC. However, the figures also show a disparity in the issuing of fines from council to council.

Man Dies After Bus Fall In Belfast
Detectives are investigating the death of an 80-year-old man who fell from a bus in Belfast. Police have said that they believe the man was travelling on a 2J Translink Metro bus service at around 11:15am on Friday, 08 November, when he suffered a fall as the bus travelled along Royal Avenue, near it's junction with North Street.
