Mail Delivery Man Targeted
As police seek help in catching robbers who targeted a cash delivery to an ATM in Castlereagh last week, a Royal Mail van driver has been left shocked after suffering a head injury when two men attempted to bundle him into the back of his van in Belfast city centre.
The incident happened at Gresham Street at around 10am on Sunday.
However, one of the attackers was held by a number of passers-by as the other fled across a nearby car park and towards Millfield.
Police confirmed the incident and said that a 46-year-old man had been charged in connection with the attempted robbery of a postman in the Gresham Street area of Belfast.
The man has also been charged with obstructing police.
The BBC has reported that an eye witness said the postman suffered a cut to his head in the attack.
"The postman was an elderly gentleman, I would say very much near retirement," he said.
The man who made off is described as being about 6ft tall and was wearing an orange and blue waterproof jacket.
Police have appealed to any witnesses to that incident or anyone with any other information to contact them.
Detectives are also appealing for witnesses following the robbery the cash-in-transit van near a petrol station on the Saintfield Road.
The security guards were approached by two males, one of whom was armed with a knife and wearing a ski mask, shortly after 8pm Wednesday last, demanded money and made off with an undisclosed sum of cash in a black BMW 320 with blacked-out windows.

Police Cancel Appeal For Missing Omagh Man
Police have said they believe missing Omagh man, Shane Sharkey, has been found in the Republic of Ireland. A police appeal for help in finding the 35-year-old has been cancelled, with police saying they now believe they know where he is. No further details have been released but police thanked the public for their help.

Two police officers have been disciplined after they failed to let their colleagues and a police doctor know that a woman had sustained a head injury, a Police Ombudsman investigation has concluded. The woman died from bleeding to the brain on 24 February 2014, the day after she suffered the injury.

Man Arrested Over Murder Of George Gilmore
A 39-year-old man has been arrested by police investigating the murder of George Gilmore. Mr Gilmore, aged 44, was shot in the neck in Carrickfergus on Monday, 13 March. He died from his injuries in hospital the following day, 14 March. The suspect was detained in Co Antrim on Wednesday, 12 April, and is being questioned at Musgrave police station.
