Windsor Park sells out for Rangers visit

Up to 20,000 football fans are expected to fill Windsor Park in Belfast this evening when Glasgow Rangers play local Irish League club Linfield in a glamour friendly.

The Glasgow giants – boasting a host of multi-million pound superstars – are expected to field a near full-strength team for the game which has been organised as a thank you to the thousands of local fans who travel to Scotland every week to watch the 'Gers.

Some of the stars likely to be in action tonight include Barry Ferguson, Arthur Numan, Lorenzo Amoruso and Tore Andre Flo.

Rangers drew 2-2 with Italian giants AC Milan at the weekend and kick-off their domestic season with a Premier League trip to Kilmarnock on Saturday.

Linfield's Irish League programme begins a week later on August 10 when they play Omagh Town at St Julian's Road.

Tonight's game is a sell-out and kicks off at 7.45pm.
