Brookeborough security operation ends

Police and army withdrew from the area at lunchtime today having discovered a small blast site on a road bordering Viscount Brookeborough's 1,000-acre Colebrooke Estate.
The explosion, which happened around 12.45am on Wednesday, left a crater in the ditch at the side of the road. The Continuity IRA later claimed responsibility for the blast.
PSNI Chief Inspector John Maxwell said: "This an area popular with locals who walk here with their dogs. Thankfully, no one was injured."
