Londonderry goes 'mad for it' as Oasis tickets go on sale

Oasis mania gripped Londonderry over the weekend when tickets went on sale for the rock group's open-air concert in the Waterside area of the city on September 7.

Eager fans besieged ticket outlets across the maiden city in an effort to get their hands on tickets for what is set to be the biggest concert held in Northern Ireland since U2 brought their Pop Mart tour to Botanic Gardens in 1997.

The Manchester band's decision to play at Prehen Playing Fields follows their recent sell-out shows at Belfast's Odyssey Arena on June 29 and 30. Those shows were part of their promotional tour for new album 'Heathen Chemistry'.

Oasis also headlined the recent Witnness music festival in Punchestown near Dublin.

Their Londonderry gig is expected to be a sell-out with around 30,000 fans likely to attend.
