Derry Apartments Wrecked In Early Morning Blaze
A number of redeveloped Derry apartments have been left in ruins after being struck by an early morning blaze yesterday.
The newly renovated homes are believed to have been the victim of an arson attack.
Fire crew battled with the fire at the four-story building on Crawford Street after midnight.
Fire and Rescue Service station Commander Mark Darall said the door at the back of the empty building had been forced open.
He said: "After investigating, we are very sure the fire was deliberate.
"The building had been broken into from the rear and the way the fire was set meant it was very heavily damaged by the smoke."

ASSEMBLY CREATE AWARD TO HONOUR FIRE SERVICE
THE Northern Ireland Fire Service is to receive the first ever award given by the province's devolved assembly. An illuminated scroll is to be presented to Chief Fire Officer John McClelland on Tuesday, by assembly speaker Lord Alderdice in tribute to the sacrifice made by fire fighters over the years.

The Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service (NIFRS) has introduced a new online tool to help residents assess their home fire safety. The Home Fire Safety Check coincides with Fire Safety Week, which runs from September 30th to October 6th. The initiative aims to reduce the number of house fires in Northern Ireland.

Appeal Following Arson Attack In L'Derry
PSNI detectives have issued an appeal for information following a serious arson attack in the Clon Dara area of L'Derry on Saturday, 23 November. Shortly before 8.20pm, police received a report that an accelerant had been used to ignite the front door and letterbox of a house in the area.

Three Arrested in L'Derry For Drug Offences
Police in L'Derry have arrested three people and seized drugs worth an estimated £600. The arrests were made following a proactive policing operation in the city. On Monday, 18 November, officers observed suspicious behaviour from a 39-year-old man and a 36-year-old woman in the Strand Road area.
