Belfast Traders Plan Smithfield Festival
Belfast's historic Smithfield area is to host its first community festival.
The one-day festival, which promises lots of fun for all the family, is the brainchild of traders in Smithfield Market and Winetavern Street.
It is supported by Belfast City Council and Belfast City Centre Management, and sponsored by NCP Services and local traders.
Local DJ Johnny Hero - himself the son of a market trader - will compere the packed entertainment programme, which will include the Chicago Blues Brothers, Aaron Paul as Elvis and Annika Graham as Pink, as well as local buskers, Mark Braidner and Warren Reid, and a tribute to 'High School Musical'.
There also will be childrens' entertainers, face painting and balloon modelling, 'trikeshaw' tours of the Smithfield area and a karaoke competition.
The Smithfield Festival runs from 10am - 4pm on Saturday 23 August.
