Police Station Death Probed
The NI Police Ombudsman has been called in after a man died in the toilets of Coleraine PSNI station. The man, who was found unconscious, was taken to hospital but died a short time later. Police said inquiries are ongoing into how he died. The inquiry office at the station has been closed to the public. The name of the man has not been released, but he is believed to have been in his 40s.
Seventy Killed On Roads
The death of a man in a road accident in Co Down means that 70 people have now been killed on Northern Ireland's roads this year. In the latest accident, a car carrying three people left the Huntly Road in Banbridge at about 9.40pm on Wednesday. Police said two females in the car were injured in the accident, one of them seriously. The other's injuries are not thought to be life-threatening. The name of the man who died has not yet been released.
Arrests Follow Anti-Dissident Operation
The police have arrested two men in an operation targeting dissident republicans. The arrests come after searches took place yesterday (Wednesday) in the Enniskillen and Irvinestown areas of Co Fermanagh and around Drumquin in Co Tyrone. As well as the arrests, some items were seized for further examination.
UU Link To Afghan Killing
An aid worker killed in Afghanistan was affiliated to the University of Ulster's research fellow and had been involved with the facility's International Conflict Research Centre at Coleraine, before leaving her post in 2005. The 40-year-old - who lived in Canada after being raised in the UK - was one of three International Rescue Committee workers gunned down in an ambush in the Logar Province of the strife-torn country on Wednesday. Dr Kirk had served with aid organisations across the world and had volunteered in areas such as Lebanon, Rwanda, Angola and Ethiopia. Speaking to the BBC on Thursday, Professor Alan Smith from the University of Ulster paid tribute to the aid worker.
Teen Assault Case In Court
A 13-year-old girl was allegedly plied with drink and then sexually assaulted by a teenage boy - who was her boyfriend at the time - and an older man, the High Court has been told. A 17-year-old youth, charged with rape, gross indecency with a child, indecent assault and unlawful carnal knowledge, was applying for bail. The judge adjourned the application to allow reports to be completed.

It has been another wet night across Northern Ireland, with flooding in some areas with south Down worst hit. Water had to be pumped out of a number of homes and many houses had to be sandbagged. More rain has been forecast.

Man Dies In Co L'Derry House Fire
A man aged in his 50s has died in a house fire in Magherafelt, Co L'Derry An investigation has been launched into the cause of the fire at a house on Highfield Road, however police said that they don't believe the fire was suspicious. The man's identity has not yet been released.

Police Cancel Appeal For Missing Omagh Man
Police have said they believe missing Omagh man, Shane Sharkey, has been found in the Republic of Ireland. A police appeal for help in finding the 35-year-old has been cancelled, with police saying they now believe they know where he is. No further details have been released but police thanked the public for their help.

Woman Arrested After Sudden Death Of Man In L'Derry
A woman has been arrested following the sudden death of a man in Magherafelt. A 46-year-old man died in L'Derry in the early hours of Tuesday, 05 December. Police are treating the death as suspicious. A 32-year-old woman has been arrested and is assisting police with their enquiries.

Police Officers Disciplined For Failing To Tell Doctor About Woman's Head Injuries
Two police officers have been disciplined after they failed to let their colleagues and a police doctor know that a woman had sustained a head injury, a Police Ombudsman investigation has concluded. The woman died from bleeding to the brain on 24 February 2014, the day after she suffered the injury.
