Omagh Remembered For Second Time
Another memorial service has been held to mark the 10th anniversary of the Omagh bomb. Hundreds of people gathered in the new memorial garden, officially opened at a council-organised ceremony on Friday. The families were joined by people from Omagh and further away, including other victims groups. The interdenominational service included prayers in Hebrew, Spanish and Irish with a minute's silence held and wreaths laid in memory of those who died. They had gathered to mark 10 years since the Real IRA bombing, which killed 29 people and unborn twins in the single worst atrocity in Northern Ireland during the Troubles. It followed Friday's civic ceremony and the official opening of the new memorial garden organised by Omagh council - but which was boycotted by some of the families who were there on Sunday.
Mourne Ramblers Rescued
Two hill walkers have been rescued from the Mourne Mountains after getting into difficulties. One suffered chest pains and was airlifted to Daisy Hill Hospital, Newry, where his condition is serious. The other man broke his leg and was helped down by the Mourne Mountain Rescue Team while the Irish Coastguard helicopter based in Dublin also took part in the rescue.
DPP Attack
The home of a District Policing Partnership (DPP) member in Co Londonderry has been attacked with a petrol bomb. It was thrown at a shed at independent member Yvonne Hutchinson's home at Leckagh Drive in Magherafelt at about 1.30am on Friday. Police officers attending the scene were also then attacked with bricks and stones, which NI Policing Board chairman Sir Desmond Rea described as "cowardly and despicable".
