Top Land-Based Sector Courses Unveiled
The UK's leading provider of higher education for the land-based sector, the prestigious Harper Adams University College, has revealed its line-up of professional short courses for the academic year 2008/9.
From equine law to farm business analysis to event management, the has plenty of courses available to support individuals and businesses working in the rural industries.
All these one-day courses will be offered in the autumn and repeated in the spring, and will be delivered by members of the university college's full-time lecturing staff, at the campus in Shropshire.
Farm Business Analysis will run on October 15 and February 18; Farm Financial Business Planning on October 22 and March 11; and Risk Identification and Management on November 4 and March 25.
New Business Opportunities is being offered on December 2 and April 29; Managing Staff for High Productivity on October 14 and March 4; and Introduction to Event Management on November 19 and March 18.
Equine Law runs on November 11 and April 30; Funding for Environmental Projects on October 7 and March 31, and the course Managing Trees & Potential Legal Liabilities – A Practical Guide is on October 21 and February 3.
Trees are again the focus for Sustainable Woodland Management on December 9 and April 28, guidance of Understanding Grassland for Conservation Managers will be offered on November 5 and April 1, and an Invasive Species Management course will run on December 3 and May 13.
In addition to this open programme of courses, Employers can now negotiate a Harper Adams study programme to suit their individual workloads and business needs.

Symantec Announces 400 New Jobs
Symantec today announced that it will establish a new European Customer Management Centre in Dublin – creating up to 200 jobs in 2013, and a further 200 positions being created over the next two years. The new centre will provide a Europe-wide sales and support function to Symantec customers and partners.

120 new jobs are to be created at Eastpoint Business Park in Dublin. The jobs, which are being created by Coupa Software, will come on stream across the coming three to five years and will be in areas such as marketing, finance, technical account management and tech support.

1,000 Jobs To Be Created In Belfast
Around 1,000 jobs are to be created in Belfast, it has been announced. Indian company, ICICI OneSource, one of the country's largest business processing outsourcing (BPO) firms, is to open a call centre in the city, creating over 1,000 jobs over the next two-years.
