Threatened NCP Wardens Back In West Belfast 'Fairly Soon'
Traffic Wardens will return to west Belfast, following threats by dissident republicans, according to their employer - NCP.
Threats were issued to parking attendants in early August, forcing NCP to pull their workers out of the west Belfast area.
However, National Car Park Spokesman Tim Cowen has expressed optimism that this decision could be reverted "fairly soon".
He said: "What we're trying to do is work out whether the threat still exists and when it'll be safe to go back in."
According to Mr Cowen there is a "groundswell" of support in the west of the city for the parking service.
"People are struggling to park outside their houses, and obviously there are concerns about access of emergency vehicles - all the reasons why you have to have proper parking enforcement," he added.

Tickets Bonanza On Parking
A year after responsibility for parking fines moved from the police to the Department for Regional Development (DRD), more than 140,000 tickets for illegal parking have been issued. New statistics show that since parking enforcement moved from the PSNI last October, 143,564 parking tickets were issued by DRD-contracted National Car Parks wardens.

New Legislation Proposed To Abolish Hospital Car Parking Charges
Sinn Féin have proposed new legislation to abolish hospital car parking charges to ease the burden on staff and visitors. West Belfast MLA Fra McCann is currently taking the bill to abolish charges through the Assembly where he expects to receive cross-party backing. He said: "Hospital car parking charges have always been an unfair tax on workers.

Threats Issued To Derry Parking Wardens
Threats made against traffic wardens and TV licensing workers in Londonderry have been described as "despicable" by the PSNI. A letter detailing the threat was left at Long Tower church in the city at the weekend. It was issued by a group calling itself the Bogside Republican Action Group.

Hospital Parking Charges Temporarily Removed
The Department of Health has warned of possible disruption at hospital sites over the next week, advising patients, visitors and staff to leave extra time to get to appointments or when accessing hospital sites. The warning comes after hospital parking charges were unexpectedly suspended.
