'Evening Economy' Under Spotlight With Major Conference
Belfast's evening economy is to come under the spotlight at a major one-day conference.
'Investing for Success 2008: How to Deliver a Vibrant Evening Economy' takes place at the Belfast Waterfront on Tuesday 23 September.
The conference offers an opportunity for those interested in and working in urban management, the retail and leisure sectors and local government to learn how to develop vibrant and mixed use evening economies.
"A vibrant evening economy is crucial for city investment, tourism and helping to contribute to economic growth in city centre businesses," commented Councillor Michael Browne, Chairman of Belfast City Council's Development Committee.
"A vibrant, well-managed evening economy can contribute significantly to the evening spend in the city; create a healthy mixed use environment and blend the day time into the night time economy; create an environment that will appeal to a larger demographic of citizens and visitors; and ensure that a city is competitive as a tourist and business investment destination.
"This conference will highlight the successes of Belfast`s evening economy campaign, and also address the threats and challenges faced when developing an evening economy," added Councillor Browne.
The conference is aimed at local, regional and national audiences, and is expected to attract senior decision makers from the retail, hospitality, leisure and tourism sectors, as well as city centre management and local government.
Speakers include high profile figures from the local retail, urban design, hospitality and tourism sectors, who will give detailed presentations on how their organizations are integral to the delivery of a successful evening economy.
