186 Cork Lab Jobs Announced
The expansion of Alcon Laboratories' Irish facility is set to create 186 new Cork jobs, it has been announced.
The news comes as the first phase of the company's new €15m plant was officially opened by the Foreign Affairs Minister and Cork TD Micheál Martin this morning.
Alcon bought its plant in Cork in the 2000.
The firm makes pharmaceuticals, surgical equipment and contact lens devices and is the world's largest eye care company.

Simon Coveney, T.D. Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine today announced €15.5 million of new investment by the Irish seafood processing companies, supported by grants of €3.2 million under the EU co-funded Seafood Processing Business Investment Scheme.

The Minister for Enterprise has announced the creation of new jobs in Cork as a "first of its kind" plant prepares to open. Minister O'Keeffe has announced the jobs at the opening of a new €8 million aluminium extrusion plant in Architectural and Metal Systems (AMS) based in Little Island, Co Cork.
