Body Of Cavan Soldier Returns Home
The body of a Cavan-born soldier killed in Afghanistan arrived back on home soil today.
Ranger Justin Cupples, who was 29, served with the Royal Irish Regiment.
Ranger Cupples died after an improvised explosive device detonated while he was on patrol in Helmand Province last Thursday.
Earlier today the soldier's remains were flown to RAF Brize Norton in Oxfordshire.
A repatriation service was held at the army base. Relatives of the Cavan man were in attendance.
Mr Cupples's parents still live in Cavan.
Ranger Cupples was killed after trapping his foot in a tripwire attached to an improvised explosive device in Sangin, a Taliban stronghold where Royal Irish soldiers frequently come under attack.
Despite desperate efforts by his comrades, the soldier died at the scene.

Man Dies After Bus Fall In Belfast
Detectives are investigating the death of an 80-year-old man who fell from a bus in Belfast. Police have said that they believe the man was travelling on a 2J Translink Metro bus service at around 11:15am on Friday, 08 November, when he suffered a fall as the bus travelled along Royal Avenue, near it's junction with North Street.

Tragic RIR Soldier Dies In Accident
The NI soldier who died in an accident in Afghanistan's Helmand province has been named overnight as 20-year-old David Dalzell. Ranger Dalzell, was from Bangor and serving with 1st Battalion the Royal Irish Regiment when the accident happened on Friday in Nad-e Ali, the Ministry of Defence said.

Second Masserene Soldier Buried
The second of the two soldiers tragically murdered outside their barracks in Antrim was buried in London today. Sapper Patrick Azimkar, who is from the capital, was shot dead along with fellow soldier Mark Quinsey as they collected a fast-food delivery at the gates of Massareene Army base in Antrim, on 7 March.

The Remembrance Sunday blast death of a Co Londonderry soldier - which took the toll of UK service personnel killed in Afghanistan since 2001 to 344 - has been recalled. The Prime Minister, David Cameron, paid tribute to the Royal Irish Regiment's Ranger Aaron McCormick today and said he was "tough, selfless, good humoured and full of compassion".
