Morrow Communications campaign hits home
Holywood-based public relations consultancy, Morrow Communications was highly commended at the recent all-Ireland Awards for Excellence in Public Relations (PRCA), competing in the Healthcare category for its promotion of Action Cancer's 'Action Man' campaign.
The accolade was presented by Minister for Foreign Affairs Brian Cowen at the PRCA awards ceremony in Dublin. It recognised Morrow Communications' efforts on behalf of its client Sx3, and local charity Action Cancer in raising awareness of testicular and prostate cancers.
The groundbreaking initiative, which ran throughout June, targeted men in the 15 - 55 age bracket and was aimed at reducing the number of deaths from both testicular and prostate cancer (220 per year in NI).
As well as matching the objectives of Sx3, a Belfast-based IT company, to the Action Man campaign, Morrow Communications was commended for its efforts in maximising the impact of the campaign messages. This was achieved by developing a gutsy, in-your-face PR strategy that combined humour with hard facts to hammer home the message that early detection saves lives.
"This is wonderful recognition for our consultancy but it is also a testament to the strength of the partnership between Morrow Communications, Sx3 and Action Cancer," said Claire Bonner, Account Director at Morrow Communications.
"Above all I'm delighted that our efforts are helping to break down barriers, prompting men to take responsibility for their health with the ultimate goal of saving lives!"
This is the fourth major award won by Action Man and follows on from its success at NI's Charity Oscars - the NICVA/Camelot Link Awards where it was voted the overall winner.
