BVCB workshop highlights Belfast's best events
Employees in the service and tourism sector have taken part in an innovative new workshop organised by the Belfast Visitor and Convention Bureau (BVCB).
The workshop aimed to showcase the best that Belfast has to offer in terms of entertainment, and for the first time, entertainment venues and activity co-ordinators were given the chance to directly outline the services they offer.
The 20 BVCB members on hand at the workshop offered advice and profiled the growing range of products, events, programmes and incentive schemes to around 60 attendees, made up of concierges, front of house staff, blue badge tour guides, guest house owners and other service sector professionals.
Gerry Lennon, BVCB chief executive, explained: "The range of things to do and see in Belfast has grown dramatically over the past few years, increasing the variety and quality of services for visitors and local people alike.
"For many visitors to the city, the taxi driver or hotel concierge will be their first point of reference when trying to discover what activities are on offer in Belfast. By providing this forum, BVCB hope to ensure the best visitor experience possible - and encourage repeat business."
Councillor Tom Hartley, chairman of Belfast City Council's Tourism and Promotion of Belfast Sub-Committee, added: "This event fits into the Belfast City Council's recently launched Cultural Tourism Strategy, providing invaluable links between culture and arts and tourism sectors."
Due to the success of this initial workshop, BVCB now intends to hold the event on an annual basis.
