50 New Jobs At 'World First' Limerick Recycling Plant
A Limerick waste management firm is set to create 50 new jobs - following the development of "world first" technology.
Re3 has announced an investment of €15m in sustainable waste technology, referred to as autoclaving.
This process uses steam to recycle around 85% of domestic waste that is ordinarily transported to landfill sites.
Limerick-based Re3 has pioneered the system and expected to initially recruit 20 new members of staff at its Galvone Industrial Estate plant.
A further 30 jobs will be formed during the following year.
Group Chief Executive, Professor Debbie Boyd, described the technology as the next generation in recycling and recovery - producing a sustainable and clean alternative to landfills.
Plans are afoot to extend the system across other sites in Ireland - eventually introducing it to the global market.
