Man remanded in custody over biker’s death
A 21-year-old has appeared at Belfast Magistrate’s Court charged with the murder of a Scottish motorcycling champion.
Paul Raymond Baird, of Beechgrove in Lisburn, is accused of murdering 49-year-old John James Silver from Aberdeen in Scotland.
The forensic examination revealed that Mr Silver died from blunt head trauma to the head at Hawthorne Way in Ballyclare, County Antrim, on Sunday morning.
The post mortem examination of Mr Silver revealed that he was also stabbed.
It is believed he died after being assaulted shortly before 3am in the Mossvale Park area.
Mr Baird, a salesman, who denied the charge, was remanded in custody until 22 July.

Hundreds of senior citizens visited Belfast City Hall yesterday to kick off Positive Ageing Month at the 2019 Age-friendly Convention. The contribution made by the city's older citizens will be celebrated throughout the month with over 200 events, classes, workshops and activities to take place in various venues.

Belfast man found guilty of murder
A Belfast man, Andrew Robinson, 24, has been found guilty of the murder of his girlfriend Julie Ann Osborne at Belfast Crown Court today. Julie Ann Osborne, 22, the mother of Robinson's child, was found dead on December 27 2000 at the Shankill Terrace home the couple shared together.

Woman appears in court over north Belfast murder
A woman has appeared in court today, charged with the murder of a 47-year-old man in Newtownabbey last week. Allison Michelle Martin, 31, of no fixed address, appeared before Belfast Magistrates Court today, charged with the murder of Geordie McDowell. She denies the charge.
