Five Hurt In Road Crash

Four separate vehicles have been involved in a serious road accident in Co Down.

Police have said that one person has been seriously hurt and four others have been injured after the car crash on the Dunover Road, Ballywalter, early on Thursday.

Three adults and two children were involved in the smash with Doctor Nigel Ruddell from the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service responding to the scene.

"When we arrived on the scene there appeared to have been four vehicles involved," he said, noting that one person was very serious and was transported to the Ulster hospital.

"Three other casualties were assessed on scene and then also transported to hospital," he said, noting that the two children didn't appear to be seriously injured.

Last night, a man was being treated in hospital following an earlier road traffic accident in east Belfast.

The victim was taken to the Royal Victoria Hospital following a two-car collision on the Gransha Road near the Glen Road junction in Dundonald yesterday morning. The Gransha Road was closed throughout the day following the incident.
