Optician Creates 60 New Irish Jobs
Sixty jobs are to be created with the expansion of Optical Express's operations in Ireland.
The optician will open three new bases in Cork, Dublin and Galway, it was revealed today.
The investment is estimated to be worth €10m, and will double the number of Optical Express locations in the Republic.
Optical Express's Chief Medical Director, Dr Steve Schallhorn, said: "As Europe's number one provider of laser eye surgery, our €10 million investment in Ireland offers increased convenience for patients booking surgery and for their pre and post operative appointments.
"The new surgery treatment centres will have on-site ophthalmic surgeons, refractive trained optometrists and patient counsellors who are dedicated to providing the highest levels of clinical care in our state-of-the-art facilities," he added.
The opticians currently runs clinics on Wellington Road in Dublin, Whitewater Shopping Centre in Kildare and Mahon Point in Cork.

Purepipe To Create Six New Jobs
Belfast-based Purepipe is investing £250,000 and creating six new jobs as part of plans to boost sales in Great Britain and the Republic of Ireland. Invest Northern Ireland has offered the company £45,000 towards its expansion which involves investing in new state-of-the-art specialised pipe manufacturing equipment needed to target new business.

New High-Tech Investment Creates 25 New Jobs
Minister for Research and Innovation, Seán Sherlock TD, has welcomed the announcement by Swiss company u-blox that it is to invest €1m in a new Cork operation, which will design microchips for use in Global Positioning Systems (GPS). The new facility will be located in Riverview Business Park in Mahon, Cork City.

A total of 265 new jobs have been announced for Athlone and Galway. In Athlone, DPD Ireland will create 200 new jobs over the next five years, with 70 of the vacancies expected to be filled before Christmas. The new jobs are part of a €13m investment, which will see the company double the size of its sorting facility.
