Farmer's Death: Man Held

It has emerged that a man has been arrested in connection with the killing of Co Armagh farmer.

Victor Stewart, 45, died over a week ago, and yesterday, the police again appealed for help in their investigations into what they said was a violent robbery.

They body of the dairy farmer - who was believed to have been killed earlier - was found at his house on the Creevekeeran Road in Middletown on Wednesday last.

Speaking yesterday, Detective Chief Inspector Richard Harkness said: "It was a savage attack in the living room of his home,"

DCI Harkness then went on to appeal for anyone who could help their inquiry to contact police: "We would like to speak to anyone who saw Mr Stewart from Sunday of this week until his body was found on Wednesday," he said.

Two police officers have been disciplined after they failed to let their colleagues and a police doctor know that a woman had sustained a head injury, a Police Ombudsman investigation has concluded. The woman died from bleeding to the brain on 24 February 2014, the day after she suffered the injury.

Two Men Arrested Over Lyra McKee Murder
Two more men has been arrested in connection with the murder of journalist Lyra McKee. Ms McKee was murdered during rioting in the Creggan Estate in L'Derry in April 2019. Two men, aged 24 and 29, were arrested early this morning, Wednesday 22 September, and have been detained under the Terrorism Act at Musgrave Police Station in Belfast.

Convicted Murderer Unlawfully At Large In NI
A convicted murderer is unlawfully at large in Northern Ireland. Police are seeking help from the public in locating 55-year-old Thomas McCabe who was sentenced to life for murder. Mr McCabe was released from prison on licence, however following a number of breaches his licence was revoked in January 2018.

Images Linked To Public Disorder Released
Detectives from the Operation Titan Investigation team have released 22 images of people they want to speak to as part of their enquiries into serious public disorder in north and east Belfast on 12th July. To date, a total of 114 people have been arrested as part of the investigation.

PSNI Release Images Following Public Disorder
The PSNI has released images of 18 individuals as part of Operation Titan investigations into riotous and disorderly behaviour, in connection with recent public disorder in east Belfast. So far, 90 people have been arrested as part of the investigation. 66 have been charged and 10 reported to the Public Prosecution Service.
