'Leprechaun' Jibe Case Dropped
A Liverpool teenager who allegedly called her pregnant Northern Ireland-born neighbour a leprechaun, and swore at her, has had the case dropped.
Andeliza Tucker was accused of insulting Belfast-born Helen Vince in June during a long-running feud.
Ms Tucker, 18, had been charged with racially aggravated harassment and was being tried at Liverpool Crown Court when prosecutors abruptly withdrew the case.
A Criminal Prosecution Services spokesman, however, said it had been right to prosecute her. He said: "We reviewed the case and in the light of the evidence served that morning, decided there was no longer a realistic prospect of conviction."
Ms Tucker had claimed in her defence that she was talking about leprechauns after watching a film about them.

Covid-19: Cases Rise As More People Are Tested
Testing in Northern Ireland has resulted in 20 new cases of coronavirus, bringing totals in the region to 148. An elderly individual yesterday became the second person to lose their life after testing positive for Covid-19. The patient had an underlying medical condition and was receiving treatment in hospital.
