Four Die On Irish Roads

Two people have been killed in weekend accidents in Northern Ireland, as well as two in the Irish Republic.

A 20-year-old man has died in hospital from injuries he received in a traffic accident on the Hilltown Road in Newry on Thursday, 23 October.

He was named yesterday as Daniel David McCormack from Castlewellan.

Two cars were involved in that collision, which happened close to the Benagh Road junction.

Meanwhile, a 16-year-old girl has died after a traffic accident in Lisburn on Friday night. She was Elyce Lewsey from the Oakridge area of the city.

The police said only one vehicle was involved in the accident, which occurred on the Rock Road shortly after 9pm.

The Gardai has also now named the two people who were killed at the weekend in separate road accidents across the border.

The 27-year-old motorcyclist killed in a crash on Saturday was Barry Murphy of Anneville Crescent, Dundalk, Co. Louth.

They are investigating the fatal road traffic collision at Beamore Road, Drogheda.

It occurred at approx 3.30pm on Saturday and involved a motor-cycle and a lorry which were in collision.

The male motorcyclist was taken to the Our Lady Of Lourdes, Hospital Drogheda where he was pronounced dead, but no other person was injured.

The scene of the collision was examined by Garda forensic collision investigators.

Meanwhile, Gardai at Donegal Town have named the 40-year-old pedestrian fatally injured in yesterday's collision.

He was Graham Manoe from Bridgetown, Laghey, Co Donegal.

Gardai at Donegal Town are investigating the collision that occurred shortly after 12.30a.m on Saturday.

It happened on the main N15 between Ballyshannon and Donegal Town.

The 40-year-old male pedestrian was fatally injured when he was struck by a car.

He was removed to Letterkenny General Hospital where a post mortem has since taken place.

Gardai closed a section of road and put diversions in place for a time as the scene was being examined by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators.

Pedestrian Dies Following Road Traffic Collision Ikn West Belfast
A female pedestrian in her 70s has tragically died following a road traffic collision in west Belfast on Saturday, 9th November. The incident occurred on Hannahstown Hill shortly after 6:50pm when two pedestrians were struck by a vehicle. Emergency services attended the scene, and the injured pedestrians were taken to hospital.

The death toll on Northern Ireland’s roads continues to rise with two more fatalities at the weekend. A man and a woman were fatally injured in separate road accidents in County Londonderry and County Down.

Hard-Hitting Road Safety Message Delivered To Young People
Over 800 young people from schools in Lisburn and Castlereagh attended a hard-hitting road safety message at the PSNI Road Safe Roadshow on 19 November. The roadshow, supported by AXA Insurance and the Northern Ireland Road Safety Partnership, aims to educate young drivers about the dangers of irresponsible driving.

Woman and child die in separate road accidents
Police are appealing for information after a woman and child died in two separate road accidents overnight. In Belcoo, Co Fermanagh, a three-year-old girl died after being hit by a car. The accident happened on the Railway Road at around 9.15pm on Monday. The girl is the third child to die on Northern Ireland's roads this year.

NI roads claim two more lives
One person has died and six others have been been injured during a road traffic collision in County Antrim. The incident happened just before 10am this morning on the Whiteside Road/Portglenone Road junction, on the B52 between Randalstown and Portglenone, when two cars were in collision with each other.
