Police issue appeal following knife attack
Police have appealed for information about a serious assault in Londonderry, which resulted in a man receiving 16 stitches to his throat.
The 32-year-old man was walking along Westland Street when two men confronted him around 2.30 on Thursday June 13.
One pushed him and the other grabbed him from behind and put a knife against his throat. The victim struggled and the two men made off.
The man sustained a knife wound to his throat, which required 16 stitches.
Police who are investigating the attack have appealed to anyone who was in the Westland Street area at around 2.30am to contact them.

Two questioned following stabbing
A man has been stabbed in the throat, ear and hands in a knife attack in County Down. The man, aged 27, was attacked at around 9.30pm on Sunday in the South Street area of Newtownards. He made his way to a house in Holywood and was then taken to hospital, where he was treated for his injuries.

A man armed with a butchers knife has robbed a newsagents on the Newtownards Road in east Belfast. At around 8pm last night a masked man entered a shop near Lendrick Street and pressed a knife against a shop assistants throat. The robber escaped with money and cigarettes.

Police Justify Using Tasers In Five Incidents
The Police Ombudsman, Dr Michael Maguire, has found that police were justified in using Tasers during five incidents involving people armed with knives. Four involved people who were threatening to harm or kill themselves, the other involved a person who was using a knife to threaten his mother and sister.
