Cahoon Case Adjourned
The prosecution has prepared its case against Stephen Cahoon, the 36-year-old awaiting trial in the Irish Republic on a charge that he murdered pregnant Londonderry mother of four, Jean Quigley.
Ballyshannon District Court was told that a draft of the book of the State evidence is ready.
However, Garda Inspector Paul Kilcoyne said the State solicitor Ciaran Liddy had only received the draft in the past few days and was not yet in a position to serve the book on the defendant, therefore the Inspector has sought extra time for the book to be served.
Judge Kevin Kilrane adjourned the case until December 19th and said he would like the book to be served by then, and a copy to be made available before then to Cahoon's legal advisors as a courtesy.
Cahoon was remanded in continuing custody without any defence objection.
Cahoon, of Harvey St., Derry, has been in custody since his arrest in Donegal town in August.
He is accused of the murder of 30-year-old Jean Quigley who was two months pregnant when she was beaten to death at her home on July 26th in Cornshell Fields, Shantallow, Derry.
