Shoukri Buried Despite Bomb Hoax
The funeral of north Belfast loyalist Ihab Shoukri was delayed earlier today because of security alerts.
The PSNI said this afternoon that both the security scares, one near where the 34-year-old was later buried at Carnmoney Cemetery, and another close to the funeral church, were both hoaxes.
Army Technical Officers (ATO) were called in to examine a suspicious object found outside Shoukri's girlfriend's home in the Rathcoole estate just hours before the funeral was due to take place on Thursday morning.
A police spokesman later confirmed that the device was "a deliberate hoax."
ATO were then tasked to examine a second suspicious object discovered near Holy Trinity Parish Church, Ballysillan Road where Shoukri's funeral service later took place.
Around 300 mourners attended the funeral, including Ihab's brothers Andre and Yuk. Andre, who is serving a nine-year prison sentence, and who was granted a day's compassionate leave from Maghabbery jail.
Ihab Shoukri died on Saturday night from a suspected drugs overdose.
However, the family of Mr Shoukri has today denied claims that he spent the hours before his death last weekend taking drugs and drinking alcohol.
In an exclusive interview with the Belfast Telegraph - published today - his mother, brother and fiancée said he played football on Saturday afternoon and then spent the rest of the day at home until he was found dead on Sunday morning.

Shoukri Death, 'Not Suspicious'
A former leading UDA figure has died suddenly. Thirty-four-year-old Ihab Shoukri died in Newtownabbey on Saturday night after what it is believed to have been a drug overdose. Police have confirmed that the body of a man believed to be the north Belfast terror boss was found over the weekend at a house in the Grainon Way area of Newtownabbey.

Loyalist leader Ihab Shoukri has been returned to jail over new charges relating to handling stolen property. Shoukri, 33, was arrested while on bail on charges relating to a police raid on a north Belfast bar.

Judge grants bail to Ihab Shoukri
The High Court has today granted bail to Belfast loyalist Ihab Shoukri. However the judge, Mr Justice Weatherup, refused to consider documents claiming that he was a leading member of a loyalist paramilitary organisation and ordered him to live in England due to a number of death threats issued against him.

UDA announce new leadership
The Ulster Defence Association has appointed a new leadership in north Belfast, it has emerged. It has been reported that the UDA's 'Inner Council' has claimed it has replaced the existing leadership in the north Belfast area, however this has been denied by the north Belfast brigade leaders.

Leading loyalist refused bail
North Belfast loyalist, Ihab Shoukri, has been refused bail at Belfast High Court, after a judge said that he had received adequate evidence to prove that he was a leading member of the Ulster Defence Association. Ihab Shoukri, 32, was arrested last week in connection with a police investigation into serious crime.
