Jobs Come And Go In Dublin

Mixed news for Dublin's workers as the turbulent job market strikes again.

Aviation ground handling company, Aviance, has announced it is to cut 150 jobs when it closes its Dublin operation in March.

The company has reportedly cited the global economic climate for the closure.

However, in other news, 100 high skilled jobs are to be created by insurers Aon Corporation.

The company, which provides risk management services, insurance and reinsurance brokerage and human capital consulting, is to launch a premises in the capital.

Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise Mary Coughlan, today announced the Aon Corporation is to establish a new Global Centre of Excellence.

The investment is expected to create approximately 100 highly skilled jobs, with the support of the Government through IDA Ireland.

A spokesman said the Centre will drive key business initiatives central to Aon’s global corporate strategy and added that Ireland's location and well educated work force were among the reasons it had decided to base its centre of excellence here.

The centre will provide advance research and development technology for its global operations.
