Train derailment injures a number of passengers
A Northern Ireland Railways passenger train was derailed this afternoon in County Londonderry.
The train driver and eight passengers were injured when the train was apparently derailed by an obstruction on the tracks thought to be a rock dislodged from an adjacent cliff following torrential rain in the area.
All the injured passengers were taken to hospital following the crash. The train driver is understood to have a broken leg and sustained rib injuries.
The train was derailed near the Downhill Tunnel at Castlerock. At least one carriage broke loose in the derailment and rolled down a steep bank onto the beach below.
The line is now closed while a rescue operation is mounted. With emergency services at the scene police said the Coast Road and Castlerock Road have been closed to traffic until further notice.
Translink confirmed that a bus service has been set up to operate on the route and that lifting equipment was being brought in an attempt to clear the line this evening.

Four Arrested Following Disorder In South Belfast
Four men have been arrested following public disorder incidents in the university area of south Belfast on Thursday, November 14th. Police responded to a number of offences, including resisting and obstructing police, and assault on police. Three men, aged 18, 20, and 21, have been charged and are due to appear in court in December.
