Tradespeople hard at work over the bank holiday
While many people in the UK will be celebrating the Queen's Jubilee holidays with street parties or watching the World Cup, nearly 30% of tradespeople will be hard at work over the two-day period.
According to a survey conducted by Screwfix Direct, almost 40% of those working over the bank holiday are employed within the leisure services sector (pubs, clubs, hotels and leisure centres) providing maintenance and customer service. A further 20% of tradespeople will be on call over the holiday period to provide the nation with emergency repair services such as plumbing heating, carpentry or electrical faults.
The survey revealed a variety of reasons why tradespeople will be working over the two days.
Some 40% indicated that contractual obligations meant they would be working, while 14% said they undertook all jobs regardless of when they arose.
Only one quarter of those surveyed stated that money was a motivating factor for working over the bank holiday.
