Media Satellite launches broadband network
Media Satellite is implementing Ireland’s first comprehensive national broadband network with the launch of its B-DSL suite of products.
The system aims to provide cheap and fast access to broadband for businesses large and small in even the remotest parts of Ireland. Using satellite technology, the B-DSL (Broadband Digital Subscriber Line) suite of products is available to subscribers for as little as €50 a month.
Rory Fitzpatrick, chief executive of Cork-based Media Satellite said: “To date, most broadband activity has been centred on Dublin’s M50 ring road. There has not been a comprehensive national broadband network.”
B-DSL’s product suite centres on three core offerings, B-DSL SOHO (Small Office Home Office), B-DSL SME and B-DSL ENTERPRISE.
B-DSL SOHO is a cost-effective solution for web browsing, particularly in locations where that the cable infrastructure is not of a standard. It uses existing cable for sending requests but satellite technology for receiving information at high speed.
B-DSL SME is designed to give maximum access and two-way Broadband connectivity via satellite to small and medium enterprises at an affordable price.
B-DSL ENTERPRISE (another two way satellite system) is aimed at large companies and Government departments. It is capable of running corporate networks, providing enterprise-wide access to Broadband. Speed and download settings can be customized for clients with specific needs or requirements.
