NITB to be investigated by Public Accounts Committee
The Stormont Public Accounts Committee (PAC) are to hold a public evidence session on a series of reports into spending by the Northern Ireland Tourist Board (NITB).
During the sessions the Committee will take evidence from the Permanent Secretary of the Department of Enterprise Trade and Investment, Mr Bruce Robinson, and his team.
It is understood that at the session will examine evidence on three reports originating from the Northern Ireland Audit Office.
These are a report on the NITB Accounts 2000-01, which dealt with the use of a credit card in NITB’s New York Office and payments to Directors, an NITB: grant to the Malone Lodge Hotel. The session will also look at portions of the Northern Ireland Appropriation Accounts 1999/2000 and the PAC’s Composite Report on Issues Dealt with by Correspondence by the Committee – both reports dealt with the issue of the award of printing contracts by NITB.
The evidence session will be held in the Senate Chamber, Parliament Buildings on Thursday, May 30.

Murder inquiry launched after Markets body find
A murder inquiry has been launched after the body of a man was discovered in a flat in the Markets area of Belfast. Neighbours found the body in an upstairs flat in Friendly Place at 7.45am on Monday. Police believe the 38-year-old man had been beaten. Two men have been arrested by detectives and are helping them with their inquiries.
