Man charged with murder of Castlederg teenager
A 58-year-old unemployed man has been charged with the murder of Castlederg teenager Arlene Arkinson who disappeared eight years ago.
Appearing before Enniskillen Magistrates’ court on Friday, Robert Howard, who is originally from southern Ireland gave his address as Belmarsh Prison in England. A police inspector told the court that he believed he could connect Robert Howard to the charge.
Police brought Robert Howard to Northern Ireland from England earlier this week.
Arlene, 15, disappeared in August 1994 from her home in Castlederg, County Tyrone after attending a disco in Bundoran, County Donegal.
Despite a major hunt by police on both sides of the border no sign of the missing girl has been found.

Convicted Killer And Rapist Robert Howard Dies
Convicted killer and rapist Robert Howard has died while he was in prison custody at a hospital in England. Howard, 71, was given a life sentence for raping and murdering 14-year-old Hannah Williams from London. Her body was discovered in 2002. He was also a suspect in the murder of 15-year-old Arlene Arkinson from County Tyrone in 1994.

Man cleared of Arkinson murder
A man accused of murdering a schoolgirl who went missing 11-years-ago has been found not guilty. The jury at Belfast Crown Court acquitted Robert Howard formerly of Main Street in Castlederg, of killing 15-year-old Arlene Arkinson in 1994 when she disappeared.
