Irish Engineering Jobs To Triple By 2020
Irish engineering jobs are to triple over the next ten years, according to a new report.
The figures, which come after it was revealed that 6% of workers in the trade are currently unemployed, have been released in an Engineers Ireland survey.
According to the study, there will be a broadening of the engineering sector's base during the next decade.
Ventures into the green economy, information technology and medical devices have been cited as key stimuluses for the sector, and have also been described as fundamental in steering recession-hit Ireland back on course.
Meanwhile, 40 new jobs are to be created at an environmental plant in Limerick, after environmental company Advanced Manufacturing Control Systems announced a €5.25m expansion to its operations.
The firm provides identification solutions to the waste and recycling industries and will create 50 new jobs, with over 40 in Limerick.
