Downpatrick Masterplan Consultants Appointed
Consultants have been appointed to develop the masterplan for Downpatrick town centre, the NI Regeneration Minister has revealed.
Margaret Ritchie said the consultants will advise on transportation, access and parking changes for the town.
They will also identify key town centre sites and make recommendations on their development.
Ms Ritchie said: "The investment in the Masterplan will be a major boost for the regeneration of Downpatrick. It will help guide the town through the challenges of the current economic climate.
"I want the masterplan to encourage further private sector development within the town centre. It will help provide attractive, shared spaces for residents, tourists and support local businesses to transform this historic town."
Work will commence on the masterplan this month and is due to be completed in August 2009.
