Jobs Announced By Irish Broadband Supplier

Some 25 new jobs will be created after a broadband supplier announced a €3m investment programme, it was revealed today.

UPC, the parent company of Chorus NTL, said it plans to overhaul its operations in Carlow which it claimed will deliver some of the fastest broadband speeds in Ireland.

The company said it is employing the services of local operator Integrated Communications Limited (ICL) that will appoint 25 cable technicians, civil engineers, and project planners.

Work Begins On New Digital Hub In Cork
Construction work has begun on a new digital hub in Skibbereen, Co Cork. When completed and opened in November of this year, the hub will consist of 75 separate workspaces and will have the fastest broadband connection in Ireland. The development is expected to create some 500 new jobs within five years.

NTR Broadband NI jobs boost
Northern Ireland is set to benefit from its own Broadband service after the opening of a new NTR Broadband office in Belfast today. NTR Broadband will launch its' fixed price, 'always-on', broadband Internet service in the province next month resulting in the creation of a further 20 new jobs by 2004.
