Patrick Uncovered!

A group that promotes Northern Ireland's scots heritage is to reveal all on the Irish saint.

As St Patrick's Day looms, the Ulster-Scots Community Network is preparing to launch an exhibition on the life, work and legacy of Patrick, patron saint of Ireland.

With the support of the Good Relations Branch of Belfast City Council, the Community Network has revisited the work carried out by St Patrick's Heritage Association in the late 1990s.

The resulting exhibition addresses key areas for anyone wishing to appreciate and understand the real significance of Patrick in NI.

These issues include looking at who exactly was the real Patrick, where did Patrick come from and how did Patrick become associated with Ulster?

The question of why Patrick returned will be examined too and of course, what did Patrick believe in will be in focus?

An accompanying display and leaflet examines how the wider Protestant community have historically recognised Patrick including church, military and loyal order celebrations.

The exhibition will be officially launched at 11.30am on Friday 6th March -appropriately in the St Patrick's room of St Matthew’s Parish Church - Woodvale Road, Belfast and will then tour a number of locations throughout Ulster in the coming months.
