Chief Constable Briefs Policing Board On Double Murder

The Chairman and Vice Chairman of the NI Policing Board met with the Chief Constable Sir Hugh Orde (pictured) this afternoon for an update on the gun attack at Massereene Army base and the police investigation now in progress. Speaking after the meeting, Board Chairman. Professor Sir Desmond Rea said: "It is now clear that the manner in which this attack took place showed complete contempt for human life. Murder was the only mission. The Chief Constable has assured us of his commitment and the commitment of his officers to bring those responsible to justice. This attack has sent shockwaves across our community bringing an unwelcome reminder of our troubled past. The condemnations from right across the community and political spectrum demonstrate unity and resolve that those who carried out this act will not be allowed to undermine the peace process; or the progress that has been made in building a better future for all the people of Northern Ireland in recent times," he said, also urging anyone with information on this attack to "come forward now".
