Man In Court Over Katie's Murder
A 25-year-old man has appeared in court charged with the murder of Bangor woman Katie Hughes.
Miss Hughes, a mother of one, was fatally stabbed during a house party at Park Avenue in the town on Easter Monday. Appearing at Downpatrick Magistrates Court, Mark Wallace from Elmwood Drive, in Bangor, spoke only to confirm his name.
He also said he understood the charges against him.
PSNI Detective Sergeant Walsh said he could connect the man to the charges.
The accused was remanded in custody, and is due to appear again at Bangor Court on 22 April.
It is believed 21-year-old Miss Hughes, whose family lives in the Chatsworth area of the seaside town, was cradled by a neighbour while emergency services rushed to the scene.
She was taken to the Ulster hospital but later died from her injuries.
Miss Hughes's family have told the press they are "devastated" by her murder.
Local residents living in the leafy town centre street have said they are shocked by the incident.
