North West prepares for Canadian and American visitors
A delegation of Canadian and North American company representatives are set to visit Northern Ireland in May to participate in the Do Business in Ireland Trade Fair.
The programme is designed to help businesses in the North West Region of Northern Ireland identify and secure mutually beneficial business alliances.
Scheduled for the 27th – 30th May the event is a joint initiative with Derry Investment Initiative, New Directions, a partnership of enterprise agencies in the North West, Newry & Mourne Enterprise Agency, and Louth County Enterprise Board.
“The participation of the North West region in the Do Business in Ireland (DBI) 2002 Trade Fair is an important step in the continual process of our marketing strategy,” Jacqueline Doherty, Senior Executive Officer, Derry Investment Initiative said.
Assisting with the planning and preparation of the DBI event is Robert Derbyshire, a Business Development Executive from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada. Mr Derbyshire who is on secondment to the Newry & Mourne Enterprise Agency said: “Do Business in Ireland is a fantastic opportunity for North American businesses to avail of and use this region as a springboard to gain access to Europe, a marketplace of over 300 million consumers.”
This event provides opportunities for Irish companies to develop their business by developing transatlantic and European trading links. The international delegates will cover a wide variety of industrial sectors, and all are keen to develop their business in Europe by locating distributors, strategic partners and licensing opportunities.
In addition, a range of seminars will be convened on issues of importance to local and international businesses including: Innovation and Centres of Excellence; Stepping Stone to Europe; and Entrepreneurship.
