Irish Road Deaths Continue To Rise
A driver has been killed in a road smash in Co Down.
Yesterday, a total of three road deaths occurred in the Irish Republic, including that of a toddler.
That accident was just a day after another child died in an accident involving a lorry on a Co Tyrone farm.
The Northern Ireland victim was playing outside the family home at Mullaghslin, Carrickmore, when the accident happened at about 6.30pm on Monday evening.
Today, the grim toll of fatalities continued after a car crashed on the Castlewellan Road in Clough, Co Down. It was reported at about 7am.
No other vehicles were involved and it is believed the victim was driving the car when the accident took place.
The deceased's name has not yet been released by the PSNI.
Yesterday evening, a child was fatally injured when he was struck by a van at approximately 5.30pm on Tuesday evening in Clondalkin, a suburb of Dublin.
He was pronounced dead in an ambulance while being taken to Tallaght Hospital.
A woman was killed when her car crashed on the Woodford to Portumna Road at Drumnamuckla in Co Galway at 3.45pm.
She was the only occupant of the car and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Her body has been taken to Portiuncula Hospital.
A man also died after his car collided with a truck between Castleisland and Abbeyfeale at 2.45pm.
The accident happened on the N21 near Headley's Bridge, in Co Kerry.
The driver of the truck has been taken to Kerry General Hospital, Tralee.

A man has died in a workplace accident in Co Armagh. It is believed the man was crushed by a road roller while a new road surface was being laid on the Bog Road, Forkhill, on Wednesday, 31 May. Police and the Health and Safety Executive have launched an investigation.
